Hello Again!

It's that time of year again, dust off the clubs and chase that little white ball around.

The RKMGT committee is planning a great event for 2007. We're playing once again at Blackstone National, however we've moved the date to August 16th. Fingers crossed we should have better weather and more daylight.

Stay tuned for more details!

June Committee Meeting Update

Well it's getting closer. Less than 3 months away and still a ton of details to work out.

Dick then spoke about the format of the tournament as it has been decided. There will be two 9-hole challenges in the morning. One Irish Fourball format for the more serious golfers and one Rainbow Scramble for those who are less serious or looking for a more fun, relaxed round of golf.

In the afternoon event, it was determined that there would be four Par 3 Challenges: Target, Double Your Money, 50/50 Hole and Closest to the Pin. There will be two 'Hole in One' challenges, the sponsor of the prizes for this contest are still to be determined. It was also discussed to incorporate a 5-Minute Hole challenge, Called 5 in 5. On the 5th green, the golfers will be challenged to complete the hole in five minutes. If they succeed, then one stroke will be deducted from their total. If not, then regular play resumes. Jim Curran assumed the role of 'Activities Coordinator' and will be overseeing the operations of these challenges.

Marty discussed the Auction/Raffle items that we currently have (we need a lot more so please keep them coming in):

Billy Gilchrist went over the brochures, letters and forms. There were a couple of changes that were made last night and once those changes are made, they will be going off to the printer next week. Again, as soon as we have everyone's input on names and addresses, then we can mail those out. We post them up on the website shortly so stay tuned.

Update From April Committee Meeting

It's coming together slowly but surely.

Billy and Kacey took a field trip out to our new venue Blackstone National. While they were there, they were able to see the tent (that was only partially installed) and to get a feel for how the tournament would be set up from Blackstone National's end. The people at Blackstone National couldn't be any more helpful. Their attitude will undoubtedly make this year's event the best one yet.

Billy updated us on his progress with Save-the-Dates cards as well as all forms needed for the event. The cards will be mailed in mid-May. He has also done a great job at getting the signage together for the day of the tournament.

Marty the took the floor and gave us Jim Curran's financial update, as Jim was unable to attend the meeting. There is $5 in our account so far and we owe Jim $5.......

The tournament fees have been raised from $250 per golfer to $300 per golfer and give everyone the option of playing in the morning as opposed to collecting the extra $50 from only those who wanted to participate in the morning events.

The sponsorship levels are just about finalized and information regarding these opportunities will be posted soon.

Dick has been working feverishly on tournament formats. He has made several suggestions for morning events, none were agreed upon as yet, but it should be a fun filled day.

Cynthia had offered many great suggestions and ideas for the auction/raffle and has offered to work on getting some of those things for us. Also in the discussion was the possibility of having celebrity golfers with us for that day.

Dave continues to bring in items that will be part of the auction/raffles for the event, but he can't do it alone. So please, reach out and find people that will be willing to help out by donating items for this great cause. The donation form will be posted on the web-site within the next week. Cynthia had offered many great suggestions and ideas for the auction/raffle and has offered to work on getting some of those things for us.

Stay tuned for further updates.

Update From March Committee Meeting

Things are starting to take shape. Committee assignments are being dished out and planning is going hard and heavy.
- Dick Ferraioli has taken on the Tournament Format Chairman and with his golf background I'm sure will make this a tournament to remember.
- Bill Gilchrist, our Media Director, is working on the "Save The Date" cards which should be printed and mailed soon.
- Joe Walsh is heading up the Volunteer Committee, be sure to visit the "Volunteer Sign-Up" page of the RKMGT website (http://www.rkmgt.com/rkmgtvols.htm) we will need a lot of help.
A full list of committee members and their responsibilities will be posted on the website soon.

Lastly, some auction/raffle items have started to drip in. We need to start getting as many donations as possible. This is an important part of our fund raising, so the more donations we receive the better. Please help us out in gathering donations!

That's all for now.
